Black Rhino Game Reserve
On Saturday 19 September we had a Rhino Day at the Reserve, which was held to raise awareness and funds for our Rhino Protection Unit, led by Andrew Jackson. The funds raised will be used to buy equipment that will make the work of the ‘Rhino watchers’ in the park a great deal easier, and thereby help protect the Rhinos.
Raffle tickets were sold with the winner having an incredible up close and personal experience with Rhino. They will take part in Rhino darting, going out with the vet and other conservation experts. The Rhino will be darted for identification purposes, and the winners will be able to actually touch the magnificent animal.
The day was a wonderful success. There were four potjiekos makers, a Rhino cookie table where you could decorate your own cookie, and a kiddies table. Two pieces of art were actioned – one was a Rhino painting by Estie from Lodge 22, and this piece was painted and donated by our very own Trish Jackson, wife part owner of Buffalo Thorn Lodge…
