A big thank you to all our wonderful guests who have helped to make 2017 at Buffalo Thorn Lodge such a success. Quite literally we couldn’t have done it without you!
One of our highlights has to be the win that was announced early December at the ‘World Luxury Hotel Awards’ Gala Ceremony held in St Moritz, Switzerland. We were declared the Global Winner in the category of ‘Luxury Private Game Reserve’. What a coup for all of us! Thank you for all your votes and well-placed confidence in the Lodge; and for visiting us in the first place.
Of course the amazing game viewing and sightings we’ve all had, is the Lodge’s raison d’etre. Our thanks go to Jacques, Nerina and the team for capturing the moments, and for all their hard work and support. Another favourite is being able to relax in the Jacuzzi whilst watching game, including some of the big five, drink at the waterhole! As owners we are so glad to be able to share this privilege with you.
When recent overseas guests went on their evening game drive, apart from the one who had organised the surprise, they had no idea what was awaiting them at the Lodge! African Tribal Dancers welcomed them back with singing and dancing… and involved them in the excitement and performance.
The dancers sang in Tswana and Zulu, telling stories about their lives. After the welcome, their drum was set up in the boma area and they continued to perform for the captivated guests.
During the dinner break, the dancers chatted, laughed and dined with the guests, and even enjoyed a game of pool with them. After dinner there was more dancing and singing, with all the guests enthusiastically participating in the fun. The guests and performers all thoroughly enjoyed the surprise and it was a tremendous success.
If you would like to organise something similar, please speak to Elouise when you are making your booking… and please do note that this would be for your expense.
