As I’m writing this, a herd of elephants are peacefully feeding just outside the lodge fence. It’s been a very exciting month as we saw a number of great leopard sightings, the pride of lions showed themselves on several occasions, the buffalo herd came down toward Black Rhino from the wilderness and the migratory birds returned.
Weather wise, we’ve been experiencing some mild to very hot temperatures. As usual, we haven’t had much rain with only approximately 30mm falling over November. We are desperately in need of some good rains to fill the dams and bring the bush back to its former ”green” glory. With the drier bush it allows for more open game viewing and increases the chances of spotting smaller game like warthogs and jackals.
The Lodge is running at full booking capacity this December so be sure to make your reservations for next year well in advance – You don’t want to loose out on a great breakaway at Buffalo Thorn lodge.
