Enjoying Alert Level 1 in the September sun

Here at Buffalo Thorn Lodge, we are enjoying Alert Level 1 in the September sun. The bush is transforming into a summer paradise. With high temperatures reaching the 30s and mild evenings lounging by the jacuzzi, what more could one ask for?

Welcome back

With some of the migrant species coming back from their cold Northern Hemisphere homes, the birdlife has been truly spectacular this month.

Best of the Big 5

The Big 5 has also been entertaining our guests on numerous occasions over the past month. And if that doesn’t bring a smile to your face, our resident cheetah female and her three sub-adult cubs have also been spotted at Black Rhino during the past month.

Goodbye old friend

Some sad news now: the Pilanesberg legend “Kruger” elephant, Mavuso, recently passed away in a fight against another bull. But so Mother Nature has a way of completing the circle of life, with the predators/scavengers getting their fill to clean up the bush.

We are all a part of the great circle of life.

See you soon!

With the country’s lockdown officially downgraded to Alert Level 1, now is the best time to book your family getaway with us (at a 15% discount for the month of October).
