We love all aspects of Christmas including tree decorating, shopping, wrapping of gifts and the delicious meals. Even though situated in a wild life reserve, we are close enough to shops and towns to still feel the exciting build up for this time of the year, and can then escape back to the peace, quiet and tranquillity of bush life.
Festivities started becoming apparent from the end of November as many companies started to wind down and schools got ready for the summer holidays. Shop windows were being filled with decorations and presents, and Christmas carols started playing in-store, with the Christmas gifting displays making their appearance. Christmas displays seem to appear in stores earlier and earlier every year!
We know our guests will relish their time here with us over this festive season, enjoying many special sightings while being able to appreciate this time of giving and sharing away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. It is always unique to start your Christmas morning with the dawn chorus and crisp freshness of a bushveld dawn, what a way to begin the festivities.
As the year draws to a close and we begin a fresh new 2019, we look forward to exceptional times at Buffalo Thorn Lodge, from meeting guests, to daily sightings of the myriad of bird and wildlife on Black Rhino Reserve and in Pilanesberg. It will be a pleasure to host and introduce our guests to this distinctive home away from home.
All in all Christmas is a rather significant occasion in South Africa, eagerly anticipated by many and which is celebrated by a large part of the greater community throughout the country. It is a time of the year that people put aside their differences and come together to celebrate this special event.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a joyous, peaceful and relaxing festive season. May the beauty of Christmas stay with you throughout the year.
